What our students say...
Mohamad Ras, an Australian resident, was working in a logistics company when he decided he wanted to make a change and follow a career in IT. He did the necessary, completing an IT course at TAFE, but it didn’t help him to get a foot in the IT industry. So he decided to enrol in AICT’s Support Technician course. Shortly after completing the training and his internship, he was able to gain a Level 1 Help desk position.
Says Mohamad
“I first found out about AICT during the 2010 career expo where I was informed about its Job Guarantee. While I must admit that I was quite sceptical about it at first, eventually I decided to give IT another shot and enrolled myself in the Support Technician Course. The Course provided me with a lot of hands on training and my lecturers were very helpful in helping me to gain certifications that were highly recognisable to employers. “Upon completion of the course, I was given a four week internship at a company called, CSC (Computer Services Corporation). The experience and knowledge gained from the internship proved to be invaluable as a few weeks later I was offered a level 1 Helpdesk position at a company called C&M computers.”
Hi Jake,
My name is Varsha Murachpersad and I have been a student in AICT for the past three months studying certificate III in English and today is my last day. My teacher, Toni Rossi, I am so thankful to her for being such a great and friendly person. In addition, she is knowledgeable, responsible, caring and innovative, making learning fun and interactive. She facilitates the development of self – assessment in learning and delivers high quality information to students about their learning.
Being an international student I have undergone lots of problems leading to stress, but Toni was empathetic as she senses my stress an approached me in a sensible way which was really touching and quite a relief.
To conclude I would say that Toni has the ability to bond with her students, to understand and to resonate with their feelings and emotions. Moreover, to communicate on their level and to be compassionate with them when they are down and to celebrate with them when they are up.
Thank You…
Kind Regards,
Varsha

Hi Liz,
I hope all is well with you and the team. You may remember me from a recent course I attended at the Institute? I just thought I would write to you letting you know of my previous experiences in trying to find work in the IT industry and how the AICT program helped me kick start my career in IT.
In 2005 I completed my Computer and Information Science degree at the University of South Australia. In the time that followed I found it was very difficult to get a job in IT and as a sale representative in the food industry and then moved to Perth in 2008.
I first heard about the AICT at a Career Expo in 2009, I read about the courses they provided and most importantly the job assistance / job guarantee they offered. If I am honest I found it hard to believe that you could give such a guarantee so soon after completing the course so I decided not to study with you at that time.
Throughout 2009-2010, I applied for heaps of IT positions with no success as the employers were looking for applicants with experience, I was so frustrated and finally I got back to the AICT and enrolled in the Support Technician course (after hour class) starting in July (2010).
The course they provided was not theory based but practical – a vocational learning program. They also helped me towards the internationally recognised IT vendor certificates that are a prerequisite by most employers. After completing the course and exams I was then enrolled in an internship with Austin Computers for 2 weeks.
After the completion of the Internship, I was helped in getting four interviews with Anitell, Xicited Logic, Ranstad and Trinix. With the hands on experience, IT certificates and interview skills provided by the AICT, I was offered a position from Anitell, Xicited Logic and Trinix.
I am now working with Trinix as an onsite technician and have also just received a call from Ranstad saying that Fujitsu are very interested in interviewing me for a position with them - but I have kindly rejected as I am happy where I am!
Thanks to the team at the AICT, I have now finally got a foot in the IT industry. If you have any enquiries with regards to the course and training provided I will be happy to speak with you.
Best regards,
Mark Hon

Hi Liz,
I wanted to email you to thank you so so much for all that you have done to help Matt with the placement and preparations for the Internships that he did last year with Austin Computers and just recently with BHP which was an awesome opportunity for him.
You are so professional and competent in what you do but are also very approachable not making us feel a nuisance whenever we were in contact with you. Haydn and I were totally amazed at the time and effort that you put into helping Matt, from contacting us initially and explaining things to us as parents to the afterhours assistance with him getting his CV updated and submitted on time and carrying out mock phone interviews on a Saturday morning so that he was prepared for his interview with BHP on the Monday morning.
You seem to have such a wonderful understanding of young people like Matt. You instilled such confidence in him that he went to BHP with such enthusiasm and a sense that he was going to do the best he could.
Each day he made sure he was at work half an hour early never left on time always later making sure he was not needed before leaving for the day and not waiting to be told to do something but looking for more work to do.
The experience he gained was tremendous and he has emerged from it a more, happy, confident talkative individual who now has more of a purpose in life.
Matt was offered a six month contract with CSC working at their Subiaco premises which he started on Monday, and he is most hopeful that he will get transferred back to BHP in the near future as was suggested to him, so Liz, Haydn and I would like to thank you once again for all your help and guidance during Matt’s journey at AICT it couldn’t be more appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Pauline Brimson

“May I thank you for the break you gave me many years ago when I was trying to carve my career. It\’s very difficult to do this in a new country with little friends as you would know. Your friendship and advice was very inspirational and that also applies to your team at Hands On.
I know find myself working as an IT Administrator for a very large mining company looking after 1,500 computers, 35 servers which include front and back end Exchange servers, Web servers, App servers, database servers and more. None of this would of happened without your help.”
I have gained an MCSE qualification and started a new career in the computer industry with a first class company. For the first time in years I really enjoy my work and look forward to coming in each day. It was more difficult than expected for a 42 year old man to change careers, but AICT enthusiastic and committed people turned my dream into a reality.
In my opinion, it is the little things like a friendly smile or genuine interest that set companies apart and your company definitely falls into that category. Thanks again for a refreshing and fulfilling experience that truly exceeded my expectations.”
“They have put me on a great path towards the career I want to do.”
“I was offered a fulltime position as a Computer Hardware Technician. The knowledge I gained during my IT course is helping me every day.”
